Jolly Trolley returns

A popular hospital service is set to return to the Johnson with the arrival of the Trolley Shop.
Offering a range of items including toiletries and snacks, the trolley is a not-for-profit service.
It has been made possible thanks to a donation from Trevor Dennis in memory of his late wife Maureen. She was a devoted nurse who joined the profession in 1948 at the age of 16 when she left home in Moulton Chapel to train 150 miles away.
Her career took her to work at the old Johnson Hospital on Priory Road, and her original nursing notebook is on display in the hospital foyer. It offers a fascinating glimpse into medical understanding of the time.
One entry, regarding adrenaline, says: “We are not sure what it does.”
The Trolley Shop is managed by four volunteers from Pinchbeck WI – Philomena McNeill, Marion Philpott, Tracey Wells and Dorothy Wood.
“Their weekly trolley visits offer a friendly face and a warm conversation, something that makes a real difference to patients during their stay,” said a spokesman for the Friends organisation.
“The Friends are immensely grateful to Trevor for his hearftfelt donation, and to our dedicated volunteers who are helping to bring comfort, conversation and kindness to hospital corridors.”
More volunteers would be welcome and information is available on [email protected]
