The new chair of South Holland District Council was at Buckingham Palace last week.
Jan Whitbourn had been invited after being awarded the British Empire Medal as part of the King’s Birthday Honours last year.
The medal was presented by King Charles’ representative in the county, the Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Toby Dennis earlier this year, but Jan was also invited to the palace for a special celebration last week.
She went with friend Stella Morgan and chatted with Princess Beatrice.
“She was lovely down to earth and very pretty,” said Jan. “She stood talking with us for a few minutes.
“It was a fantastic day and we met singer Jane McDonald on the train.”
