The organiser of the Pride of South Holland Awards has been presented with her own accolade.
Jan Whitbourn is used to organising the handing out of the awards herself.
But recently she was surprised by fellow district councillors and a member of the public with her own Pride Award.
Resident Amanda Halifax came up with the idea to honour Jan.
“Every year Jan gives everyone awards and flowers and she gets nothing,” said Amanda. “That’s why we gave her the award.
“It’s very deserved and she’s a very worthy recipient.
“She never stops and gives all her time to Spalding and the community.”
Couns Gary Taylor and Mark Le Sage joined Amanda in presenting the award.
Jan said she was ‘shocked and surprised’.
“I absolutely hate surprises and hate receiving awards… but this was very lovely,” she said.
