In praise of the apprentices

Two Spalding students were among those who received awards from Boston College this week.

Apprentices and their employers attended the Sam Newsom Centre in Boston to celebrate their hard work.

After two years living through a pandemic, the awards night marked the success of apprentices, their employers and the college.

The evening was hosted by the college’s executive director of business innovation and partnerships Adrian Humphreys, and Wendy Poole, head of apprenticeships.

The two students from the Spalding campus were Archie Saunton (pictured), who received the brickwork award, and Rebecca Hiller, who took the health and social care accolade.

A total of 15 apprentices were chosen from more a cohort of more than 400 at the college.

There were also awards for employers who work closely with the college and a total of 12 were selected for special recognition awards.
