In-form Lockie out as Holbeach United chase a big win at high-flying Quorn

Saturday could be the day Holbeach United produce a result that will raise a few eyebrows in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.

That’s the view of boss Danny Hussey, who feels his side are capable of upsetting high-flying hosts Quorn (3pm).

The Tigers had won four games on the bounce before losing 1-0 at South Normanton Athletic in the Buildbase FA Vase last weekend.

Holbeach go into the game in fourth place – which is one position and one point better than Saturday’s hosts.

But Hussey insists that his side need a big performance to reinforce their impressive league position.

He said: “Quorn are one of the big spenders in the league.

“I know that they’ll be big, strong and hard to beat – so I’ll need to have a think about what kind of team I need to pick to get a result there.

“Whatever we do, we need to start well. If we’re still in the game after 30 minutes, I feel like we’ll get a result.

“It’s important that we make a statement against one of the big teams at some point.

“The Rugby win was a statement, but it came at home. We lost our toughest away game to date at Leicester Nirvana.

“I feel like we’ve not played away at any of the really top sides in this league.

“So, it’d be beneficial for us to lay down a marker by getting a result on Saturday. I think it’d certainly make a few teams look twice if we win the game.”

Hussey will have to mix up his tried and tested front three at the Farley Way Stadium, given that the in-form Jonny Lockie is away.

His partnership with Josh Ford and Liam Adams has proved very profitable in recent weeks, but now Will Bird, Ryan Oliver and Luke Avis are pushing to steal his shirt.

Meanwhile, Hussey has confirmed that Holbeach have made an official complaint to the Cambridgeshire FA with regard to the conduct of FC Parson Drove.

The Tigers are unhappy with the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division side’s efforts to sign Joe Braithwaite from them following their approach for the defender on October 4.

Hussey says that the club have provided strong evidence to the authorities and was “shocked” to discover the alleged rule breach.

Braithwaite, who has been out of the team because of injury, is expected to stay at Carter’s Park.
