Long Sutton Ladies’ 1st opened this game where they left off last week.
With the forwards and midfields working tirelessly they were able to convert a chance from Milly Hastings to Florence Perowne who swept it into the goal to put them 1-0 up at 13 minutes.
Sutton worked tirelessly with the fresh legs of Lottie Dack and Kate Tilbrook joining the line up to keep the pressure on.
At 29 minutes they were successful once more through open play coming via Pippa Hastings to Perowne, completing a one-two with Hannah Baker who slotted it through the keeper’s legs.
They started the second half 2-0 up however, Sutton grew tired, and ten minutes into the second half Cambs managed to find the goal.
Sutton’s defence still worked hard through Lisa Baker, Becky Hales, Gemma Parr and Tania White, joined by Natalie Frost, Amelia Norey and Amber Jones they managed to keep them at bay until a shot on goal was intercepted by Lisa Baker but her attempted clearance placed it past Lorraine Wallis in the 64th minute, making it 2-2.
Sutton kept their spirit and tried to fight back but to no avail.
Sutton, although disappointed, will take the positives into training and next week’s game at home versus Pelicans 2nd XI.

Disappointed with last week’s result Long Sutton travelled to local rivals Wisbech.
They took the game to Wisbech from the start and dominated possession.
With Emma Grosvenor back on duty just in front of the defence of Julie Warby, Sarah Skate and Lexi Clarke, they ensured that Ellie Sandall just had to stay awake.

Disappointed with last week’s result Long Sutton travelled to local rivals Wisbech.
They took the game to Wisbech from the start and dominated possession.
With Emma Grosvenor back on duty just in front of the defence of Julie Warby, Sarah Skate and Lexi Clarke, they ensured that Ellie Sandall just had to stay awake.
They were soaking up anything that Wisbech had and moved the ball quickly to the midfield of Penny Perowne, Katie Whittaker and Lillie-Jayne Tegerdine.
Annabelle Giles never stopped running, picking the ball up from the midfield and running at the Wisbech defence and playing delightful passes to fellow forwards Aimee Betts and Wendy Canham.
A slick move involving Whittaker, Tegerdine and Canham saw the ball swept to the left hand post for Betts to apply the finish.
Sutton used their squad wisely with Chantil Sinclair and Alison Whittaker slotting in to ensure the pressure remained.
Sutton won a number of short corners and it wasn’t long before Katie Whittaker ensured that she was on hand to extend Sutton’s lead not once but twice.
Sutton were not done, determined to bury last week’s memories and could have extended their lead even further but Giles saw a penalty flick well saved.
They did extend their lead however on the stroke of half time when a ball drilled into the D was superbly tipped into the goal by Sinclair for 4-0.
In the second half Wisbech did see more of the ball but Sutton kept the substitutions fluid and they continued to let the ball do the work for them aking up anything that Wisbech had and moved the ball quickly to the midfield of Penny Perowne, Katie Whittaker and Lillie-Jayne Tegerdine.
