Ibeneme makes mark after late call to action

A Thurlow Nunn League Division One North thriller at Carter’s Park went in favour of Holbeach United, thanks to substitute Kelvin Ibeneme.

He came off the bench to strike what proved to be the winner after the Tigers had twice trailled to Gorleston Reserves.
The visitors took a fifth-minute lead but captain Sam Carter restored parity from the penalty spot. The Norfolk seasiders were back in front after 20 minutes but Josh Doran’s free-kick crept through a ruck of bodies to nestle in the corner of the net to make it 2-2.
Ibeneme put the hosts ahead for the first time but they had a nerve-racking moment when Gorleston were awarded a later penalty, only to send the ball over the bar.
Marley Hamilton and Josh Doran made their Holbeach debuts, after signing from Harrowby United and Boston Town respectively.
Tigers: Simpson, Ling, Doran, Roberts, Oldham, Carter, Compton, Millinson (Ibeneme), Hamilton, Keeble (Wright), Thorne. Subs: Fowler, West.
Attendance: 78.
