Hope litter idea will pick up

The public can take an active approach in keeping Spalding looking sparkling thanks to new active billboards.

The boards have been purchased by the Spalding Riverside Forum after funding from Tesco’s Bags For Life scheme.

South Holland DistrictCouncil member Jack McLean is the man behind the idea of the boards which have a pocket for a litter picker which anybody can use to pick up litter.

Initially they will be monitored by a volunteer, but Jack hopes that eventually they will be regularly out and in the same place for people to use.

He said: “That will depend on the success of the trial. We want to get everyone involved, especially businesses.
“It’s all about taking pride in our area.”
