Holbeach to get medieval

Roll up, roll up, make haste and delay ye not, for the Holbeach Medieval Festival is close at hand.

On July 2 and 3 the town is going back in time as part of a host of free fun for the family.

Living encampments are set to bring the period to life with events held throughout the church grounds and in Carter’s Park.

Not only will there be military re-enactments but there will also be opportunities to try out crafts from the time as well as numerous food, drink and entertainment options, all with a medieval theme.

Coun Tracey Carter has organised the event supported by a host of volunteers and local businesses.

“It is a proven fact that festivals increase footfall, generate business, and raise the profile of the location, leading to positive publicity and bringing people into the town who may never otherwise have visited – so this is a chance for Holbeach to show itself off to best advantage, and at a time of year when those fabulous floral arrangements are going to be at their best,” she said.

Among the attractions are God’s Company of Tabor, Fight Team Falchion, The Knights of Skirbeck, The Chosen Few, Albearto the Dancing Bear, The King’s Executioner, The Apothecaries, Vitriol Historical, A Merrie Noyse, Devilstick Peat Fibbs, Grantham Danserye, The Lincolnshire Guild of Spinners and Dyers, Owain Leech the Surgeon, Greg Chapman, The Peddler, Roland the Friar, Jane’s Medieval Kitchen, The Fenland Flag, and Lord and Lady Despencer. Plus a handful of medieval traders.
