Holbeach pensioner found guilty of bomb hoax in Lincolnshire Co-op store

A 71-year-old Holbeach man has been found guilty of creating a bomb hoax in the town’s Lincolnshire Co-op store.

David James Edwards, of Hallgate, had denied placing a brown package in the Fleet Street store on January 27, 2017, “with the intention of inducing in another a belief the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury”.

Appearing before magistrates in Boston on Friday (June 9), Edwards was handed a 12-week sentence, suspended or 12 months. He was ordered to pay £500 costs and £115 victim services surcharge.
