Holbeach B win battle of big guns to go clear

The top-of-the-table clash in the Spalding Billiards League went in favour of Holbeach A 5-2. It enabled them to open a three-point lead over visitors Consti B.

Jason Rose (scr) put Consti ahead with breaks of 25, 24 and 20 before a high-scoring second frame saw Mick Cooper (o200) oust Mick Johnson (o150). Cooper had breaks of 36, 28, 27 and 22 before an unfinished 37, while Johnson scored 29, 24, 21 and 20.
Ben Harding (r20) held his nerve to win the decider against Neil Burton (r60). Harding had a break of 22 with Burton’s best being 21.
Holbeach B moved level in second place thanks to a 5-2 success at Consti A, who are still without a win. Denis Hix (r70) got the away side off to a winning start but John Bellerby (r80) levelled, scoring a 23 break on the way. In the decider Stewart Davies (r40) hit a 21 break but was beaten by Neil Harvey (r50) with an unfinished break of 22.
Bourne SC beat Pyramid A 5-2 to climb above their visitors. It was all over after the opening two frames with wins for Lester Gaunt (o20) and Tony Curry (r60). Gaunt hit a 22 break with Curry notching a 20 and 22. John Clapton (r110) pulled one back for Pyramid.
Pyramid B moved well clear of the bottom of the table with a 7-0 mauling of Donington. Martin O’Connor (r100) and Phil Cooke (r90) won the opening two frames with Darrel Read (r30) potting a 31 break on his way to another win for the hosts.
