Spalding Poachers 2nd picked up an impressive 3-0 victory over high-flying Ely City 1st in Division Three North West of the East Women’s Hockey League on Saturday.
In what was the only game involving a South Holland team to take place on Saturday, Poachers went ahead of 12 minutes when the ever-dependable Karen Timby fired home from a penalty corner.
It was soon 2-0, when a perfect pass by Ellie Holland found player-of-the-match Erin McMurray, who fired into the net.
Despite the wind and heavy rain, the ladies kept the fast-paced play going after the break.
Their final goal was created by birthday girl Roz Dennis and tapped home by Holland.
Meanwhile, Spalding Poachers 1st were handed a 5-0 walkover win against Cambridge Nomads 1st in Division Two North West, making it 17 wins from as many matches.
