Now’s your chance to book early to avoid disappointment as Spalding’s South Holland Centre lines up a series of special broadcasts of “live” shows.
After the kids are back at school it might be time for parents and grandparents to treat themselves to a bit of “me” time and what could be better than taking in a stage or music event right on your doorstep?
The South Holland Centre series kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, September 28, with Billy Elliot The Musical from London’s Victoria Palace.
This special performance brings multi award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical to cinemas for the first time and for one day only!
Based on the Academy Award nominated film first released in 2000, Billy Elliot the Musical has won the hearts of millions since it opened in London’s West End and has gone on to captivate audiences around the world, winning over 80 theatre awards along the way including Tony Awards and five Olivier Awards.
Set in a northern mining town, against the background of the 1984/85 miners’ strike, Billy’s journey takes him out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and whole community and changes his life forever.
Then on Tuesday, September 30, at 7pm, Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire will be broadcast live from their London home, the Young Vic, by National Theatre Live.
It stars Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall) as Blanche DuBois, Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley and Vanessa Kirby (BBC’s Great Expectations, Three Sisters at the Young Vic) as Stella.
As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace – but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski.
Tickets for both cost £13 (£11.50).
Then finally, on Saturday, October 11, there will be one for the youngsters – or young at heart – as the centre hosts the ultimate musical cinematic experience for all 1D fans, a one-off opportunity for those that missed the live Where We Are tour, to see a concert from the Italian leg of their record-breaking tour on the big screen.
Tickets cost £10 (£7.50).
