Kind-hearted councillors have clubbed together to provide new play equipment for a Spalding school.
The Garth School, a special school with 45 pupils aged between two and 19 from across South Holland, will benefit from the generous donation which includes scooters, tricycles, wheelbarrows and buggies.
Twenty councillors contributed a total of £2,370 from their own budgets and the equipment will be handed over to pupils and teachers at a presentation on October 3.
Pinchbeck councillor Sally Slade organised the initiative along with Di Sawyer, a member of the Friends of the Garth School group.
Coun Slade said: “I emailed councillors and had a fantastic response.
“Within a short time I was able to tell Di that we had exceeded the amount we had aimed for and were able to buy all the items they wanted.”
Coun Nick Worth, the council’s portfolio for community, said: “Play time at the school will be enhanced by this new equipment. This is a fantastic gesture by the councillors which will help a lot of children.”
