Green is the Don at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday Showdown at Main Road

Don Green rolled back the years to show them all how it was done at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match at Main Road.

Green drew golden peg four and was into the fish almost from the off, with good roach and skimmers coming to his maggot hookbait over hemp.

That also accounted for a 4lb plus tench, boosting his weight to an excellent 20lb 14oz and a clear win.

Second from peg three was Dave Simmonds with a roach and skimmer based net of 11lb 8oz to maggot and pinkie over groundbait and hemp assisted with a half dozen good perch from his worm line.

The fish didn’t reach Pete Emery for an hour and a half but he then extracted 9lb 10oz of quality roach on pinkie from peg five for third place.

Martyn Thomas took fourth with a mixed bag of silvers on the lead from peg two, catching and feeding with maggot.

Wednesday Open at Main Road: 1st Pete Emery 14lb 10oz; 2nd Don Green 7lb 15oz; 3rd Archie Greenwood 5lb 6oz.
