Spalding Fire Station was rushed off its feet at the weekend – but it was all in good fun.
The station held an open day and welcomed members of the community to its home in the town.
The event, which also included other 999 services, raised more than £1,500 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Visitors were able to watch members of the fire crew dismantling a car – showing how a casualty would be removed.
“We had very generous donations from Bakkavor and Grumpy Mule Coffee. The open day went very well,” said Petra Barneveld-Taylor, representative for The FIre Fighters Charity.
“The aerial ladder platform from Boston attended and we also had a smoked-up living room so people could get an idea of what it feels like when we perform search and rescue during a fire,” she added.
The charity provides support and rehabilitation for fire service personnel and their families.
Alongside a barbecue and ice-cream van there was a vintage fire engine, the Red Cross and other local agencies represented.
