Grammar students made of write stuff

A group of pupils at Spalding Grammar School are getting creative at lunch times as well as learning about the media.
The Over To You club has been formed by members of the English department with the emphasis on the pupils to decide what they’d like to do.
It’s exciting times for the students who are working towards launching their own radio station and podcast for the school.
They’ve also been allowed to focus on creative writing, learned about debating skills, including carrying out one on whether you should eat meat and looked at various aspects of the media.
Recently they asked The Voice’s chief reporter Richard Rush to pop in where they grilled him on life as a journalist in South Holland.
The school’s Jane Chiappino said: “We wanted to do a club where the emphasis was on the pupils.
“There’s plenty of sports clubs and we wanted one where they could decide what we do.
“It grew as an extension of the creative writing club and we get between 20 and 25 attendees each week.”
