A residential care home in Gosberton has been rated as ‘good’ and come off special measures, says a report published last week.
Gosberton House provides specialist care for adults living with dementia or disability.
At a previous inspection, the owner was warned that improvements were needed.
“This assessment was to see if improvements had been made, ” says the recent Care Quality Commission report.
“Risks to people had been identified and were reviewed using best practice tools during this assessment process,” says the report.
The commission rated the home as ‘good’ for safe, effective, caring and responsive. It also has an overall rating of ‘good.’
“At our last inspection we warned the provider that improvements were needed.
“Improvements were made at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations,” the report says.
Gosberton House is run by ASD Care Ltd and the most recent assessment was conducted in September.
“Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained,” the report says.
“However, risks had not been fully mitigated until identified during the assessment.”
There were enough staff to meet the needs of residents and they were able to tell the CQC about training they had received.
“However, training records had not been kept up to date.”
The report also noted that people were treated with kindness and compassion and staff protected both the privacy and dignity.
“They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.
“Staff responded to people in a timely way.”
While noting the provider was ‘previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to person-centred care, consent to care, management of risks and medicines, staff training and governance.’
But the latest report says the provider was implementing a ‘learning culture’ in the home and was encouraging people to raise any concerns so they could be addressed.
It also said residents and their relatives were happy overall with the care they received.
The home, on Westthorpe Road has 48 single rooms, ten with en-suite wet rooms.
