Gongs galore at South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club bash

South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club reflected on another action-packed season as they enjoyed their annual awards evening.

With more than 80 swimmers competing in excess of 170 races, plenty of trophies were dished out.

This year Ron Pates was presented with an engraved ‘Mars bar’ trophy and glass decanter by outgoing junior captains Emily McCann and Lucy Baker, in recognition of his outstanding voluntary contribution over the years.

South Lincs’ head coach Callum Lawson also organised a ‘this is your life’ tribute via virtual live message from Olympic swimmer Mel Marshall, who used to train at the Spalding club.

Those who competed in the club championship galas were presented with certificates, plaques and trophies, while Tracey Walkers’ ‘learn to swim’ awards included: attendance – Izzie O’Brien and Luke Sorrell; effort – Charlotte Ciuberkyte and Oscar Haunch; improvement – Jodie Watson and Dziugas Baziliauskas.
