Golfers have teed up a fantastic donation of £5,000 to help people with disabilities ride horses.
Spalding Golf Club made the fantastic donation to the Fenland Riding for the Disabled Assocation (RDA) a group of volunteers who put horse riding sessions on for pupils of the Priory and Garth School.
Spalding’s 2019 ladies’ captain Lainy MacLeman and senior captain Peter Jullien helped present the cheque to RDA volunteers including its chair Lynne Carroll and the branch’s founding members Liz Dixon-Spain and Jane Carter.
RDA secretary Angela Southwell said: “We’d like to express our extreme gratitude to Spalding Golf Club.
“This is a huge sum of money for a charity such as ours and it will help us to put on yet more riding sessions for the pupils at the Garth and Priory schools.
“We’ve been going since 1981 and we’re entirely dependent on volunteers.
“Even the ponies that the children use to ride are the ones owned by the volunteers.
“Without the help and support of our volunteers and the local community, such as this donation from the Spalding Golf Club we wouldn’t be able to put these sessions on so we can’t thank them enough.”
