Girls take part in sport camp

Five pupils from a Spalding secondary school enjoyed taking part in a Girls Active Camp.
The year 10 Gleed girls joined youngsters from 32 other schools nationally at the camp which aimed to create a network of girls who will act as role models and influencers to motivate and inspire other girls to participate in sport.
The girls taking part were Anete Murneice, Kamila Ronduda,
Ellis Taylor-Williams, Liberty Studd and Emily Gresswell.
Ellis said: “We look forward to bringing our
experiences of leadership back to school. We are aiming to boost the confidence of young girls within sports and physical education, to show everyone is equal and should be proud to be part of a team.”
Throughout the camp the girls were challenged to work with others to explore the barriers to participation.
Miss Pearce, lead teacher of girls’ PE, said: “I am proud of the girls for representing our school in such a positive light for girls PE, wanting to make a difference in girl’s participation in sport.
“They will be fantastic role models, but now the hard work starts! They have been given workbooks and a timeline where they will be going into assemblies, lessons and setting up after school activities in order to increase girl’s interest in sport and PE.”
