Fundraisers that are a roaring success leads to Pride nomination

John Steel, Elaine Mothers and the other members of Spalding Lions Club have been nominated for Pride of South Holland Award.

The nominations for the 2018 award are flying in ahead of September’s big celebration at the South Holland Centre.

The person who nominated the Lions, said: “I am nominating the Lions Club (Spalding) because they are great.

“They were founded in 1971 and are a group of very nice people who want to improve our community and help people be happy.

“They hold lots of events to raise money that helps lots and lots of different people.

“They do a carnival in Pinchbeck every year.

“They do Easter Egg raffles every year all over our community.

“They go to Morrisson’s and Sainsbury’s every year with Santa to raise money.

“They do a stall at the Pumpkin Parade and a fancy dress competition.

“They have car boot sales for raising money.

“They hold race nights to raise money.

“They go to PHAB for a donkey derby.

“They raised money for two hearing dogs.

“They have a lot of gin nights (I’m too young to go to those!).

“They hold quizzes and people can win.

“I know they do lots and lots of things for people in my community.

“They raise lots of money to help people who need it.

“They are very friendly.

“They are my friends. I like them a lot.

“I think they are very kind and deserve to win an award.”
