Four-midable start to pre-season for Holbeach United as they come from behind to beat Bourne Town

New-look Holbeach United made an immediate impression in their first pre-season game of the summer as they defeated hosts Bourne Town 4-1 on Saturday.

After a month of pre-season training, the Tigers finally took the field as a team at the Abbey Lawn – but fell 1-0 behind early on when Nathan Smith bundled home.

But Holbeach, under the co-management of Danny Clifton and Simon Roberts for the first time, levelled when Adrian Bilicz headed home from close range.

Young midfielder Harvey Wirkowski then lashed a strike into the corner to put the Tigers ahead, before Kyle Compton made it three following a top team move.

There was still time for Cal Davies to lash home a fantastic fourth on his return to the club, too.

Holbeach are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Deeping Rangers to Carter’s Park (3pm).

They have also been drawn away at neighbours Pinchbeck United in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on August 27.
