Flood plan issued in The Suttons

Residents in The Suttons have been issued with details of what to do in the event of a flood.

It comes after the night in December 2013 when water topped the River Nene banks in Sutton Bridge.

A local volunteer group including chairman Fr Jonathan Sibley, vice-chairman Pauline Dickinson and district councillors Chris Brewis, Michael Booth and David Wilkinson has put together The Suttons on The Wash Emergency and Flood Plan.

Leaflets have been delivered to all streets likely to be threatened.
The leaflet includes those responsible for taking first decisions and responses alongside the rescue services, as well as the availability and distribution of appropriate resources and equipment to homes and businesses.
It is also important for everyone to register with Flood Line 0845 988 1188.

The group has also successfully pressed for the flaps on the west bank of the River Nene to be modernised and replaced – work to be completed as soon as possible.

For more information contact Fr Sibley on 01406 362033 or Pauline on 01406 362467.
