Five candidates to battle it out for seat at General Election

Five candidates are seeking to become the MP for South Holland and the Deepings in the General Election 2019.

Sir John Hayes, who has held the seat since 1997, is again standing defending a majority of 24,897 from the previous 2017 election.

Standing for the Labour Party for this election is Mark Popple who will be hoping to improve on the 20 per cent of the vote share the party earned in 2017.

Davina Kirby has been anounced as the Liberal Democrat candidate while Martin Blake is contesting the seat the Green Party.

For the second General Election running, Rick Stringer is standing as an Independent candidate for the seat.

The election takes place on Thursday, December 12.

The result for the 2017 South Holland and the Deepings seat was: John Hayes (Con) 35,179, Voytck Kowalewski (Lab) 10,282, Nicola Smith (UKIP) 2,185, Julia Cambridge (LD) 1,433, Daniel Wilshire (Green) 894, Rick Stringer (Ind) 342.
