Firefighters make a splash for charity

Local fire crews have been hosing down cars for charity.

Those at Spalding station collected money for Lincoln based colleague Stefan Hawcroft who is raising funds for treatment for an inoperable brain tumour.

Thanks to the donations and those that helped out they raised a brilliant £1,150.

A spokesman said: “A massive thank you to everyone. We’re so humbled by the generosity and support of our local community.”

Donington’s crew raised a massive £770 for The Firefighters Charity, up from £440 last year.

Spokesman Michelle Allgood said: “It was an amazing achievement considering that they only started with three crew washing cars as the rest of the seven man crew had been out since 2am on incidents.

“They were all so very tired but spirits were high as cars were queueing in the street to support their cause.”

Crowland’s crews did their wash the previous week raising a brilliant £709 for the same charity, including £77 by an Easter egg raffle ran by some of the crew’s children.

A spokesman said: “A huge thank you to everyone.

“We had great support.”
