Elvis is back in the building and not a bit shook-up, even for a hound dog needing the help of the fire service.
The exuberant labradoodle pup came a cropper when he got his head wedged in a metal plant pot holder at his Spalding home.
It was now or never for the fire service to use their skills with burning love to free the 15-week-old puppy.
Owner Tash Addison-Davis said the family had poured a litre of vegetable oil over the pup’s head to try and help free him – but he was stuck fast.
“We heard him screaming and we think he was jumping, slipped and fell into the holder then his head went right through. We put oil on his head, but couldn’t release him.
“The firefighters came out really quickly and within ten minutes he was free again. Then we had to bath him to get the oil off,” said Tash.
Spalding Fire Crew was called to Ash Close at 11.48am last Wednesday.
Crew members used a special Holmatro cutter to release the puppy from his predicament.
A spokesman for Spalding Fire Crew said: “We were mobilised to poor Elvis, a 15-week-old Labradoodle, who managed to get his head stuck in a metal plant pot holder.
“We’re extremely pleased to report that Elvis was quickly released by the crew using the Holmatro equipment, and was running around the garden looking for his next adventure within minutes of the emergency call.”
Tash and her parents Nicola and Richard are in for double trouble as they also share their home with Elvis’s brother Phoenix and a 12-year-old cocker spaniel called Bruce.
She named him Elvis as she is a fan of the late singer and listens to his music most days.
“I first heard him when was about ten, now I listen all the time.
“Elvis and Phoenix run round play-fighting. Their teeth are razor-sharp and they love socks and shoes.
“I often find a trainer one side of the house, and the other one somewhere else entirely,” said Tash.
She works at her father’s company, Rough Terrain Event Medics.
