Fire at Spalding takeaway

Fire crews had to rush to a Spalding takeaway twice on Tuesday afternoon.

Smoke was billowing across Winsover Road when the first crews arrived at Nanda’s at about 12.20pm.

Police set up a cordon and the busy scene was further complicated by a shunt between two cars passing by.

Firefighters later left the scene but two fire crews returned on blue lights about an hour later. They remained on the scene until about 4pm.

A county council spokesman said sparks from a charcoal burner set light to a filter in an extractor fan. She said the second call-out was a false alarm.

There was light smoke damage to a first-floor landing.
