Charity launch to thank community

Today is the anniversary of the first edition of the Spalding and South Holland Voice – and we are marking the occasion by giving something back.

Since our first paper hit the streets on April 17 last year we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from readers and advertisers alike.

So, to mark our first birthday we are launching the Spalding and South Holland Community Fund.

The aim of the fund is to enable us to lend a financial “helping hand” to local people or organisations who need a little bit of help.

This can be anything from an existing charity fundraising for a cause, or a deserving individual who needs something in particular to improve their quality of life.

We hope to get involved in a number of our own fundraising ventures in the coming months to boost the fund, as well as accept donations from our generous readers.

Editor Rachel Mayfield said: “The first year of the Spalding and South Holland Voice has been totally amazing – and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the people of South Holland.

“As a community newspaper we want to give something back to the amazing people who live and work here, so the Voice Fund seems a great way to do that.

“We are now looking forward to another successful year and hope our readers and advertisers will continue to support us, both with our newspaper and our new community fund.”

To mark our birthday, today’s paper also includes a reader competition to win a 42-inch LED Smart TV and a chance for businesses to win up to £1,200 worth of advertising.
