Fete is hailed a success

A first Spalding fete has been hailed a success.

The fundraiser for the Spalding Flower Parade saw a host of people take on games and stalls at Ayscoughfee Hall on Sunday.
Organiser Steve Timewell also put on fun races such as egg and spoon races and a game of stand up bingo.
A real-life mermaid made an appearance and read stories to the little ones whilst Doctor Who gave a guided tour of his TARDIS.
The team of volunteers worked hard all day and managed to raise £1,302 towards next year’s Flower Parade.
Steve also put himself in the stocks and allowed people to donate to throw wet sponges at him.
More than 20 craft and charity stalls kept visitors busy all day, whilst the children enjoyed bouncy castles and other activities.
Steve said: “I am delighted with the number of visitors we had, it was nothing short of a superb day and the total raised was amazing.
“I am dedicated to organising local events to bring the community together.
“Without community, we have nothing.”
This is the second large event Steve has organised at Ayscoughfee Hall and he’s busy putting together plans for a winter event.
