A camera club which has been going strong for 30 years is inviting potential new members to go along and find out more.
Established in 1985, Deepings Camera Club (DCC) is growing year on year and in the past 12 months has enjoyed great success in a number of competitions and exhibitions.
Many members had their work selected for these competitions, some of whom are well established with the club and have awards, but others were beginners just a few years ago and have developed their skills and expertise by entering the club’s internal competitions and using feedback from judges and other club members to improve.
Club lectures also provide the opportunity to gain new ideas and techniques for experimentation.
Deepings Camera Club prides itself on being a friendly club and in welcoming all levels and ages of photographers.
It does not run actual courses but will always offer help and advice. With a diverse membership of 80 members, there is a wide range of knowledge and experience, so that there is normally someone who can answer your questions.
The club meets at 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings at Deepings Community Centre with a good programme of events, details of which are available on the club’s website at www.deepingscameraclub.org
On the first Monday of the month the club also holds more practical evenings for a smaller group of members.
Subjects include learning how to prepare work for competitions, dealing with Photoshop techniques and many other interests, which are all elements of modern day photography.
In the summer break, the club organises local visits although these are largely dependent on the weather. More regularly groups of members will visit other clubs and venues to enjoy competitions, exhibitions and lectures.
If you are a keen photographer, go along to the welcome evening on Wednesday, September 2, at 7.30pm at the Community Centre.
