‘Fantastic achievement’ as boys win medals galore for Spalding Gymnastics Academy

The talented boys from Spalding Gymnastics Academy all picked up medals at the Northamptonshire County Championships.

The lads travelled to Irthlingborough for the six-piece competition – and produced an amazing display to wow their coaches.

The morning session saw the Novice Competition get under way, with the Spalding boys coming away with a host of medals. Matty Bogan grabbed three gold medals and three silvers, whie Zac Wilkins won two golds and two silvers.

Also impressing were Luke Jakins (three gold and two bronze), Louie Bakermoult (two gold, three silver and a bronze) and Lewis Burton (a silver and a bronze).

Not done there, Alfie Rosam-Lee collected three golds, a silver and a bronze, while Jorge Bradford managed a fantastic four golds and a silver and Josh Pearson picked up two golds and three silvers.

This represented a fantastic result for the young gymnasts, who put in so much hard work.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the intermediate boys – with similar results.

Tom Martin won a gold, two silvers and two bronzes, while Taylor Binns bagged a gold.

Lucas Webb snared a silver and a bronze, with Ollie-Joe Rushton taking two golds and four silvers for six medals overall.

Daniel Martin won a medal of each colour, while Daniel Yates secured a gold and two bronzes.

In the all-round apparatus standings, Spalding’s novice section took the honours with Brogan (age 7/8 years), Jakins (9/10 years) and Bradford (11/12yrs) all collecting overall gold.

The overall intermediate standings also saw Rushton walk away with gold, too.

A Spalding club statement said: “Every gymnast that took part from Spalding won a medal.

“It is a fantastic achievement for everyone and a proud moment for all of the coaches.”
