Spalding United fans have been voting for their top Tulips team ever.
As part of manager Lewis Thorogood’s Facebook Live events that have proved a hit, he encouraged a vote for the legends side.
The fans voted for current goalie and the 19/20 player of the season Michael Duggan as the top keeper.
In defence were former Notts County and Boston United stalwart Lee Canoville, Paul Langford, Nick Keeble and Nathan Stainfield, who was voted in as the Tulips’ ultimate captain.
Current Holbeach United midfielder and coach Adam Jackson is in a midfield that also includes Chris Hall and former Peterborough United and Lincoln City winger Worrell Sterling.
Carl Shutt, who went on to a professional career with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Leeds United in the mid-80s, was named up front alongside the more recent Mitch Griffiths and Bradley Wells.
Voted on the subs bench were Neal Spafford, Josh Moreman, Nathan Whitehead, Ronnie Fortune and Keith Alexander.
The fans couldn’t be split on who the manager of the legends team should be as Alan Day and Pat Rayment were named jointly.
Day is recognised for his legendary side of the mid-90s, while Rayment was the manager who took the Tulips up from the UCL to their current step four level.
