‘Falling’ singer looks to land in the charts

A Spalding mental health nurse is looking to hit the charts after releasing a single with a drum and bass duo.

Shanice Forster has teamed up with the hotly tipped Leicester-based group Human Theory to provide the vocals for their new single ‘Falling’.
It was released on Friday and is already clocking up the listens on the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.
“It’s exciting,” said Shanice. “It came from us getting in contact on Instagram and we just worked well together.”
She already has over 9,000 followers on that platform, including the Canadian rapper Drake.
There’s plenty of videos of her singing talent around, ironically it was a video of a woman complaining about her singing in Peterborough city centre that went viral garnering over six million views.
“I think it was that which meant I wanted to do more singing,” she said. “All of the views I received and comments about my actual singing were inspiring.
“Then to have Drake follow me was crazy.
“When I was younger I was always singing and entered competitions.
“It was when I went to university in Leicester that I realised I wanted to do more with my creative side.
“That’s why I started busking in 2021.”

Shanice cites Becky Hill and ‘people like that’ as her inspiration.
She plays guitar and writes her own material, but admits that she’s not confident enough in those songs just yet.
“I’m into all kinds of music and styles but I think the drum ‘n’ bass genre is the one I’m enjoying most at the moment,” she continued. “Hopefully myself and Human Theory are going to do another single together soon.
“At times before I’ve lost confidence in myself but now I’m just doing it because it makes me happy.”
Shanice’s 9-5 job is as a mental health support worker for the NHS.
She hopes her own recording career can help inspire others.
“Helping other people has always been something I’m really passionate about,” Shanice said of her work. “You can help build up an understanding with people through music.”
