CCTV has led to 22 arrests from 87 incidents in South Holland since April last year statistics reveal.
The matter came up at Spalding Town Forum last week which asked for the latest data.
All 22 of the arrests from CCTV in the district came in Spalding.
Footage was used to gather evidence in 48 other instances, again all in Spalding, apart from two in Holbeach.
The footage was reviewed a total of 67 times in Spalding out of 73 overall in South Holland.
According to the statistics, the cameras in Crowland haven’t been used at all.
Dee Bedford, the community safety and enforcement manager, told Spalding Town Forum that five extra volunteers had been found to observe footage alongside the usual police staff.
“We’re pushing for more and we’d encourage anyone interested in volunteering to get in contact,” she said. “It benefits us and the volunteer as it’s interesting, very inclusive and it allows the CCTV operators to do the parts of their jobs as well as monitoring.
“It’s extra eyes and is already proving advantageous.”
Coun Christine Lawson asked why the statistics seemed to indicate that there was ‘a spike of anti-social behaviour in July’ where the number of incidents logged was 15.
“We do tend to see more anti-social behaviour in the summer months,” said Ms Bedford. “It doesn’t surprise me as people are out more and there’s a rise in general noted by the ASB team.”
Coun Anthony Casson told the meeting there were 84 CCTV cameras in Spalding and they were a mixture of roaming and static.
Coun Gary Taylor said of their usage: “We historically associate CCTV with crime and ASB but 17.5 per cent of cases involved searching for a missing persons.
“We all know how we would feel if a family member was missing so it’s worth highlighting CCTV can help some of the most vulnerable in our society.”
