Enoch passes on skills

The head coach of Spalding Town Tennis Club has been hugely impressed with the development of the young players and club as a whole following his first season.

The sport has taken Enoch Annan around the world. The 44-year-old was one of the Ghana’s top junior players, winning many national competitions and representing his country in team competitions,
He turned pro in 1997 playing in tournaments across Europe. After retiring in 2003 he has lived and coached throughout England.
Annan actually turned up to the Spalding Tennis Club just to play but the club asked if he’d pass on some of his knowledge and skills.
Since then he has helped lead the club’s latest era, which includes getting involved with the recently renovated tennis courts at Ayscoughfee Hall.
“When I came to the club I could see they needed more motivation to play good tennis,” he said.
“A year later it’s all going well and it’s been great seeing the youngsters coming on, entering and doing so well at high quality tournaments.
“Luke Orton and Hayden Bingham have been prompted to play in more competitions and they’ve been very impressive .
“So many more are really progressing, including Liam and Ryan Bridge.
“There’s a great number of young people all coming through and it’s great to see.”
