Egg-cellent donation by Friends

There were egg-stra smiles at Johnson Hospital on Easter Sunday as a group provided chocolate treats to some of the patients.

The Friends of Johnson Community Hospital in Spalding visited its Welland Ward to hand out eggs following a kind request from Cherry Immink, support services team leader.

The group’s secretary Christine Grocock said: “Being in hospital over Easter can be especially difficult, as many patients would much rather be at home celebrating with family and friends. With that in mind, we hoped this small gesture would bring a little comfort and a smile during what can be a challenging time.

“This is the first time our charity has arranged an Easter egg donation, and we are pleased to say it was very well received.

“We had initially been mindful that some patients may be diabetic or unable to enjoy chocolate, but the nursing staff were, as always, incredibly helpful.

“Where patients were unable to have chocolate themselves, they were encouraged to pass the eggs on to visiting family members or friends, ensuring that the gift could still be enjoyed.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the team on the Welland Ward for their continued support and kindness.

“Their help makes initiatives like this run smoothly and ensures that patients truly benefit.

“It was another successful and rewarding visit for the Friends.

“Of course, none of this would be possible without the ongoing generosity and support we receive from our local community.”
