Easton handed Spalding United job on a permanent basis

Spalding United’s search for a new manager is over.

The Tulips confirmed this permanent appointment of caretaker boss Matt Easton on Wednesday evening.

Easton was previous boss Chris Rawlinson’s number two and has landed the role after impressing during his short stint as caretaker.

His first game is at Ossett United on Saturday (3pm), before a derby trip to Stamford on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Easton, a former England under-16s coach, will be assisted by his backroom team of Lewis Thorogood, Bob Don-Duncan and Richard Storey.

Spalding United’s official website released the following statement: “The board were not short of credible applications for the long-term manager’s role but they felt that Matt had earned his chance, had full respect/command of the changing-room and was very much his own man in terms of developing an entertaining style of play which supporters want to see.”

He will have to contend with the services of Jordan Lemon, however, with the versatile full-back making the move to Matlock Town.

They are managed by former Tulips chief Dave Frecklington, who has ex-Spalding supremo Rawlinson among his backroom staff.
