Desborough Town 2 Pinchbeck United 0
Deflated Ian Dunn admitted that he doesn’t know where Pinchbeck United’s next positive result is coming from after a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Desborough Town on Tuesday night.
Two individual errors cost the Knights dear in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division clash at Waterworks Field as goals from Iain Blaikie (34) and Giuseppe Freitas (71) settled the basement battle.
Rock-bottom Pinchbeck remain two points from safety and without a league win since their first home game of the season back in August.
They’ve managed just three draws since then and losing against 18th-placed opposition is another bitter pill for player/boss Dunn to swallow.
He said: “You may as well put me on repeat – I seem to be saying the same things over and over again. Two individual errors cost us dear.
“The first is a keeping error, but I can’t be too harsh on Ross Woolley, he’s been excellent since he joined us.
“The second was a player not going with his man, which is unforgivable really.
“To be honest, we struggled to create anything all night and the best we could have hoped for was 0-0.
“Without the errors, we’d have probably taken a point home.
“From my point of view, Desborough are just two places above us in the table and this was a fixture we hoped to take points from.
“I have to be realistic and say that it’s hard to see where the next point is coming from at the moment.
“We’ll keep plugging away, but some of the signs lately have not been encouraging. We’re not winning many second balls and we just keep making mistakes.”
Next up for the Knights is a home clash with 17th-placed Cogenhoe United on Saturday (3pm) before a trip to Shepshed Dynamo on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Dunn added: “On paper, Cogenhoe is another one we can look to win, but I know they’ve made a few new signings. It’ll be a tough game, they all are for us this season.”
Knights: Woolley, Worthington, Kacirek, Parsons, Rodden, Dunn, Gaukroger, Richardson (Bingham), Kingston, Hamilton, Gee (Finlay).
