Dunn: In-form Pinchbeck United confident of testing league leaders Shepshed

Ian Dunn insists that Pinchbeck United won’t be intimidated by all-conquering Uhlsport UCL Premier Division leaders Shepshed Dynamo ahead of their clash this weekend.

Table-toppers Shepshed have won all eight of their games so far this season and sit five points clear at the summit ahead of their Saturday visit to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field (3pm).

Hosts Pinchbeck are down in 18th after just one win from their opening seven, but they are on a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Knights player/boss Ian Dunn has seen improvements from his side over that period and is in no mood to lie down for the leaders.

He said: “Shepshed are obviously a very decent side and they look like genuine title contenders.

“But no side, to my knowledge, has won every game in a season at this level – so they’ll have to drop points at some stage.

“Somebody will beat them or take points from them, so why not us?
“Without getting carried away, we’re very confident in ourselves at the moment.

“We believe we can get something from the game and that’s what we’ll try to do. Myself and (assistant boss) Allan Ross have treated the last few weeks like we’re new to the club.

“We’ve targeted making ourselves harder to beat and we look much more solid now. We can be buoyed by our recent performances and let’s see what we can do.”

Pinchbeck will have to do without the versatile Tony Edwards, while Nick Bishop has stepped away from football for personal reasons.
