Pinchbeck United are hopeful of hanging on to key defender Nick Jackson amid interest from South Holland rivals Holbeach United.
Jackson, who has yet to play this season due to getting married and then having minor surgery on his elbow, is the subject of a seven-day notice of approach from the Tigers.
Knights player/boss Ian Dunn has waived the need for the approach as he’d like the situation sorting as quickly as possible.
Dunn, who brought Jackson to the club last season, wants to build a new side arounf players like the left-sided defender and would be disappointed to lose him.
He said: “I’ll not lie, it’d be a big blow to lose Nick.
“We’ve not had him available yet this season, but I’m hopeful he’ll stay and be part of what would be a new challenge for him.
“We’re attempting a rebuild here and it’s easier to entice new players here when you have the likes of Nick in your squad.
“It’d be fantastic if he stays – and I’d like to think that he will.
“We’ve waived the need for the seven days as we’d like this sorting as quickly as possible – one way or another.”
Pinchbeck, who had last weekend off, return to Uhlsport UCL Premier Division action at struggling Anstey Nomads on Saturday (3pm).
Anstey are one of three teams yet to register a point, but Dunn isn’t taking anything for granted.
He added: “They’re not as bad as the early table suggests. I know that they’re a good side and it’ll be hard for us.
“We’ve not started that well ourselves, but obviously we’ll be targeting three points and will try to be hard to beat.”
