Drunkenly drove into ditch on Christmas Eve

A Spalding man who lost control of his car and crashed into a ditch on Christmas Eve, has been banned from driving by magistrates in Boston.

Oleg Savca, 41, of Little London admitted driving with excess alcohol.

Jim Clare, prosecuting, said Savca’s car was seen travelling at speed at around 5pm, going straight through a crossroads and crashing into a ditch in Littleworth Drove.

He said police were called and he gave a positive breath test with a reading of 47 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35.

He told police he had drunk several ciders and that there was ice on the road and his brakes didn’t work properly.

In mitigation, it was said he admitted he had made a stupid mistake and had fully complied with the police.

He was banned from driving for 14 months but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 14 weeks.

He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £119 in court costs and charges.
