Almost 5,000 drivers registered in South Holland have three or more points on the licence, according to figures from car selling comparison motorway.co.uk
Figures provided by the company show that 4,980 drivers have three or more points on their licence.
Of these, 3,657 have three penalty points on their licence.
Across England and Wales, 2.69m drivers currently have at least three points on their licences, and 11,090 have at least 12 points and are likely serving an automatic ban.
Nationally, almost 80,000 drivers have nine penalty points on their licenses, which means 79,463 drivers are one more motoring offence away from receiving an automatic ban.
Motorway.co.uk obtained the most up-to-date data on penalty points by postcode across England and Wales from the Driving Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request made in February 2019. The courts endorse driving licences with penalty points if a driver is convicted of a motoring offence. Drivers are disqualified if there are 12 or more points on their licence.
Locally, the Community Speed Watch scheme has been launched in a bid to reduce speeding in the area.
Rural organiser Jan Whitbourn said while the group doesn’t issue penalty points, information is passed onto Lincolnshire Police who send letters out to the driver.
If caught again, a second letter is sent out and if caught for a third time, a police officer will hand-deliver a letter.
Mrs Whitbourn said to date, no third letters have been issued.
