Double boost for Spalding United as King signs and Beeson opts to stay

Spalding United have completed a double deal after landing striker Gary King from Cleethorpes Town and convincing winger Lee Beeson to stay.

King, who helped Cleethorpes earn promotion to Evo-Stik NPL Division One South last season and reach the FA Vase final, returns to the Sir Halley for a second spell.

He last featured for the Tulips under Pat Rayment and more recently played for Holbeach United during Darren Jarvis’ reign.

Beeson, meanwhile, had an offer from Corby Town but has opted to remain at the Sir Halley.

The pair are joined by defender Ellis Humble, who boss Chris Rawlinson signed in the wake of Nathan Stainfield’s departure last week.

  • Spalding have announced home pre-season friendlies against Peterborough Northern Star (July 29) and Kettering Town (August 1).
