Donington pupils’ heads shaved for Stand Up To Cancer campaign

Stand up to Cancer 011webTwo secondary school students have done their bit to Stand Up To Cancer by having their heads shaved.

As part of the national charity campaign, 15-year-olds Ryan Davy and Ben Gargon, from Thomas Cowley High School in Donington, lost their locks, cheered on by staff and fellow pupils who pledged money for the good cause.

They were helped to organise the event by friends Liam Kelley and Oliver Farmer and had hoped to raise £350.
But the great support at the school meant their total has already topped £450, with more money still coming in.

A spokesman for the school said: “All four students feel very strongly about supporting the charity as they all know someone who has been affected by the disease.
“This is a fantastic result and is something the students should feel very proud about.”
