St John’s Care Home in Spalding marked Dignity Action Day with a Digni-tea party and activities to get everyone talking about dignity in care.
Residents, staff and visitors at the Spalding care home wrote down what dignity meant to them on leaves that residents had painted and cut out. The leaves were then tied on to a “Dignity Tree” and displayed in the home for everyone to read.
Dignity Action Day is an annual opportunity for health and social care workers, and members of the public to uphold people’s rights to dignity in care. “The idea of Dignity Action Day is to highlight a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people but also reminds everyone that staff have a right to be treated with dignity and respect too,” explained Juliet Peall, home manager at St John’s Care Home.
