Dennis Houghton was the star man at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Wednesday Open on the North Level at Main Road with an impressive nine tench haul for 32lb 14oz.
Drawn on end peg six, Houghton fished worm over caster and maggot between 11m and 12m to take the victory.
Pete Emery pushed him all the way though, taking a bigger stamp of fish from peg four and ending up with six tench for his 28lb 14oz and runner up spot.
It was a similar story at the Sunday Club match with the two downstream end pegs producing the tench.
Andrew Kilby was on end peg eight and latched into four tench, two on the feeder and two on a long pole line for a winning 17lb.
Don Green was next door on seven and took two tench on feeder and worm for his second placed 6lb 6oz but weights plummeted after that with only sticklebacks to be caught.
