Deadly Dawkins delivers as Pyramid B stay perfect

A classy 50 break from Spencer Dawkins helped Pyramid B extend their flawless start in Division Two of Spalding and District Snooker League.

The in-form Dawkins, who plays off an O49 handicap, also managed a 22 break as his side won 5-1 at Boundary C to make it three wins from three and stay top of the early second tier standings.

Team-mates Alfonso Palumbo (O42) and Jason Green (O56) also starred with breaks of 24 and 21 respectively as they both secured frame wins too.

Consti I are second, two points off the pace, despite a 4-2 home loss against Crowland B. Richard Neal (R21) settled that tight tussle with a 75-46 win over Pete Stokes (R21) at the death.

The big winners at this level were Crowland C, who roared to a 6-0 success at friendly foes Crowland A to jump up to third place.

Paul Spicer (O7), Richard Wesley (R7), Jim Howe (O28), Russell Morse (O7) and Joel Shears (R7) all enjoyed frame wins in the whitewash.

Elsewhere, Gosberton B and Services C both got up and running with their first victories. Carl Wand (scr) was on magic form with a 32 break in Gosberton’s 4-2 win at Consti H, while Mark Spiller (scr) pocketed a 36 break in Services’ 5-1 home triumph over Holbeach C.

Up in Division One, three sides still boast 100 per cent records after three rounds of fixtures.

Bourne SC A are top after seeing off visitors Whittlesey A 4-2. Carl Gibson (O14) was their star man with breaks of 25 and 20, while Max Ayliff (O14) added a 21 in a crucial black-ball victory.

Holbeach A are level on points with them at the summit after seeing off Consti F 5-1. They were inspired by a 20 break from Mick Ayres (O14) and a black-ball victory from Mick Ayres Jnr (R14).

Donington A are the other unbeaten side. They enjoyed a third 4-2 win on the spin, with club rivals Donington C their latest victims.

The highlight of that derby was delivered by the C team’s Neil Reynolds, though. The O49 handicapper made a fine 43 break and cool second offering of 30 in his frame win over Sam Major (O28).

Services A lost their perfect start as they went down 4-2 at Long Sutton A. Stuart Atkin (O42) sank a 34 break as he won the decisive final frame for Sutton.

They are now just one point ahead of Holbeach D in fourth. That’s after Holbeach won 5-1 at Consti B, despite a 25 break from Mick Johnson (O35).

Meanwhile, Services F are setting the pace in Division Three after a fine 5-1 success over Consti C. Jason Rose (O14) and Oliver Turner (O21) made breaks of 27 and 20 respectively as the Spalding side made it three wins from as many matches.

Just two points behind them, but also with a 100 per cent record, are fellow club side Services B. They won 4-2 at Pyramid F as Alan Hansard (scr) recorded a final frame knockout blow against Neil McLean (R7).

Two other sides boast unbeaten records, but have only played two matches.

Donington B won 5-1 against Donington D to remain flawless as Pete Burrell (O14) and Phil Burrell (scr) both won black ball games.

Also perfect are Long Sutton C, who dispatched Whittlesey C 4-2.

Impressive breaks of 31 and 30 from the red-hot David Lefley (scr) and Dan Mayfield (O21) were the highlights.
