A local dance troupe has just returned from dancing on board the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Independence of the Seas.

Spalding’s Polka Dot Dance Troupe are all aged between ten and 17, and using songs from Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and more, each year they take their performances worldwide.

This year they were invited to return by Royal Caribbean after a performance onboard in 2010.

The dance troupe has been performing across the globe for a few years now, dancing on cruise ships, at London theatres in London and at Disney World.

Elaine Barron-Clark, of Polka Dot Academy, said: “We are extremely proud of the group. They always commit to the classes and work very hard to ensure the performances are of the best quality.

“All the children deserve praise and so do their parents for all the running around that they do.

“To be invited back by Royal Caribbean is just amazing, it does cost a fair amount of money and time but it’s worth it.”
