Crowland A close gap to Spalding and District Billiards League leaders Sutton

There’s just one point between the top two in Spalding and District Billiards League after leaders Long Sutton and Crowland A both won on Monday night.

Champions Sutton are a point clear after edging out Pyramid B 4-3 in Bourne.

Victories from Mick Cooper (O60), who made breaks of 47 and 39, and John Dawson (R30) proved key for Sutton, with Darrell Read (R50) a big winner for the hosts.

Crowland A enjoyed a better points return as they defeated visitors Holbeach A 5-2.

Terry Everitt (R10) made a 34 break in the decisive final frame for Crowland, who have played one game more than Sutton.

Veteran cue ace Hugh Pinner (O170) did hit back with a 36 break in a frame win for Holbeach.

Elsewhere, Pyramid A bagged a 5-2 win at Consti A with Eric Wyer (R50) and John Twell (R50) both clinching frame triumphs.

Towards the foot, Gosberton A picked up a welcome win as they defeated Consti C 5-2.

Andy Shephard (R120) and Norman Gookey (R80) picked up the wins, rendering Alan Hansard’s (R60) 22 finish as consolation for Consti.
